Ski Jumping

Winter Session Dates: November 15th-March 3rd

Every kid dreams about flying through the air.  The NSAA Ski Jumping program makes those dreams come true.  Our certified coaches teach skiers how to execute jumps safely while enjoying the thrill and exhilaration of the flight.

The facility has four jumps for all abilities: 10 meter, 20 meter, 40 meter, and the big daddy 65-meter. Recent upgrades to the Karl Eid Jumping Complex now allow Alaska’s ski jumpers to train and compete year-round.

In the summer, NSAA jumps use a combination of water, steel tracks and a special plastic grass surface to simulate slippery snow and allow for year-round ski jumping.

In the winter, our newly installed snow making system helps extend the jumping season.

NSAA offers programs for young skiers ages 5 and up. Check out our programs below!

Want to watch our jumpers fly? During the winter jumps are open Monday-Thursday evening from 5:30-8:00 pm and every other Saturday and Sunday from 10am-12pm. See training calendar for exact dates.

Location: Karl Eid Jump Facility is located adjacent to Hilltop Ski area – Location Map

Ski Jumping coaches are few and far between. That’s why we’re lucky to have two USSA Certified coaches.

Coach Zak Hammill

Zak Hammill has been with NSAA’s Ski Jumping program for 6 years. Zak came to us from Ishpeming, Michigan, where he was the head ski jump coach. He was also a Central Division coach. Zak started ski jumping in Iron Mountain, Michigan, and moved on to train and compete at the highest levels in the USA and Europe. Zak received his degree from the Outdoor Studies program at Alaska Pacific University.

Coach Natasha Hammill

Natasha Hammill is NSAA’s small hill ski jumping coach. She has been coaching for NSAA for 5 years. Natasha joined us from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where she was a part of a ski jumping dynasty. Her three siblings, Nick, Nathan and Natalia, all ski jumped at various levels. Natasha began jumping when she was 5 years old. The jumping program is looking for volunteers all year long!  Anchorage’s ski jumping community is filled with fun and community-oriented coaches, parents, athletes and volunteers. We’d love for you to get involved!  There are many ways to volunteer: assisting coaches on jumping days, help with jump maintenance during summer months, assist kids with equipment or provide hot chocolate to warm-up skiers on crisp winter days.
